Fashion Emergency
I am hereby calling my first virtual style council. I’m the sister of the groom. The wedding is one month away. I am not allowed to purchase anything new. I need your help!!!
I’ve gone through my closet and pulled out everything I think is even close to working. I’m going for elegant & sophisticated. Though it isn’t formal, my brother will be wearing a tux. It is an evening wedding.
Help me Obi-Wan, you’re my only hope. Comment below on what you think works and doesn’t. Make suggestions. Be honest about how fat my ankles look in those shoes.
Special thanks to the best boyfriend ever: photographer & blog tech support.
- This is my go to wedding outfit.
- I've worn it to almost every wedding I've been to in the last 3 years.
- I love it, it is comfortable, but I'm a little bored with it.
- I like this skirt with the blouse, but I'm not sure about the tank & shoes
- The skirt is cotton so it is comfortable & warm.
- sometimes it pooches in unfortunate locations
- This is a cute jacket MM has offered to loan me. Thank you!
- I've got this weird but awesome cotton jersey & silk shiffon toppy thing.
- but I'm not nuts about having my upper arms exposed somehow with this one.
- two shoe choices here, fake pattent (comfortable), leather pump (less comfortable).
- is all the cotton too casual?
- plus I never wear all black...
- my other wedding outfit of the last 3 years
- more professional, less elegant
- but also super comfortable
- not sure the jackety thing works with the way the dress falls
- but I like the colors
- the dress is jersy with a meshhy overlay
- it is showing alittle wear here on the edges on the side
- again not so sure about the exposed upper arms
- two shoe options here, the black pumps or the gray/mush brown cydwalk pumps
- the other thing about this dress it that it is a little too big on top, I could maybe take it in.
- this is one I made 8 years ago.
- it is a little small in the skirt & a little big in the jacket
- and sometimes the way it goes in the back makes it show, ahemm.

also, love the main wedding outfit, but i think you might be cold.
Hi Callie!
I actually love your “go to” outfit, the first one you listed. Maybe there is a way to make it feel new with different accessories? Or a snazzy hat? Your ankles look gorgeous, lady!
Great photos!

i vote for the go to outfit too- perfect sillouette for you, issue is that it’s light colored and it is an eve wedding. second choice is long blackdress. exposed arms look great. i dont thing the jacket works, perhaps a wrap?
my darling daughter–
in pic #4 ( long skirt w/light blouse ) you look like you stepped off a page from Vogue. I would lose the shoes (go for blk. pumps-leather looks best but comfort rules) and get a black tank for under the blouse. Ed agrees.
many x’s–dad
i vote with your dad and ed. xo j
I agree with your Dad too! Long black skirt w/ Cream button top.
A black tank under would make it look more pulled together.
For shoes, I vote that you find a friend to borrow some flat black ballet flats. This will give you a more current look and be comfy!
Good luck!!
